Along with the 33 of Richard Joson, 31 of former pro Vince Lauron and either of the 28s carded by Jung Soo Park and Rodel Mangalubnan, Mizuno assembled 128 points at the tricky Baguio Country Club course, while Forest Hills and Southwoods were down in the standings at fourth and sixth, respectively.

Guamanian Seabridge, the winner of the Fil-A crown last year, emerged as Mizuno’s likely opponent for the coveted crown with a 125 opening total in the tourney backed by Toyota, Pacsports, Illy, Empire and Wilson. A Toyota Vios will go to any player who scores an ace on holes No. 10 and 18 of the BCC and Camp John Jay courses, respectively.

Mike Castro led Seabridge’s bid with 35 points that went with the 34 of Louie Sunga and a pair of 28s from Ray Blas and Daryl Poe in the tourney supported by Fashion Rack, Air 21, Rizgolf, Supreme Bike, GPS Tracker, Golforce, San Miguel, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corp., Duty Free Philippines, Beaufort and Bayan Business.

Baguio City did even better than Forest Hills, coming up with 116 points on the 31 of Fred Puckett, 30 of Clyde Cabreros and 28 of Rudy Lockey, three players who helped John Hay pocket the seniors Fil-Championship last week. Chester Calpotura rounded out the team’s scoring with 27 points.

A further three shots down was Forest Hills which got 30 from Jose Ravinar Austria II, 29 from Ronnie Littaua, 28 from Peter Young and 26 from Rafael Garcia for 113.

Batangas Barakos had a pair of 29s from Migo Ochoa and Rudy Amata for 111 and fifth, just a point ahead of Manila Southwoods and Camp John Hay.

Jun Jun Plana led the Carmona-based parbusters with 32 points. Theody Pascual and Joseph Tambunting added 27 each while one of the 24s submitted by Howie Sison and Florene delos Santos rounded out the team’s score. - (Malaya Business Insight)
