97 points for Green Meadows to get the lead at Fil-Am Golf

The younger Pucketts struck early as GreenWater Meadows I registered 97 points and led Am B at the start of the regular 62nd Fil-Am Golf Tournament at the Baguio Country Club on Monday.

Gary Puckett led the Green Water Meadows’ charge with 27 points, Rey Palaganas had a 25, while brothers Larry and Jack had 23 and 22, respectively, for the team’s 97 total, up by two on Baguio Ventures II.

Last week, Baguio-based Fred Puckett led Camp John Hay to the Fil Championship title of the seniors’ side, while taking the individual crown.

Ben Malcontento led Baguio Ventures II’s 95-point production, with a 25, while James Wong and Reli Gomez added a pair of 23s.

Guam Kool Swingers was three points down with Michale Gatewood scoring 26, Leo Ganacias hitting a 23, Daniel Gatewood piling a 22, and Dan Ganacias getting a 21 for the team’s 92-point production.

At Camp John Hay, Butch Bakunawa had a five-over 74 or 31 points to lead Ultra Flite GC I to 104 and a seven-shot lead in the Fil B.

Roger Crespo added 26, Dennis Nicomedes had a 25 and Rey Talatala scored a 22 in the five-to-play, four-to-count tournament backed by Toyota, Pacsports, Illy, Empire and Wilson.

Arnold Duay had 27 points and led Margot Marikina Golfers to a 97 and second spot, while Mamala Bay had 28 from Chris Howard for a 93 at third spot in the event backed by Fashion Rack, Air 21, Rizgolf, Supreme Bike, GPS Tracker, Golforce, San Miguel, Le Chef, Camp John Hay Development Corporation, Beaufort and Bayan Business.

Gabriel Javelosa had a 24 and led Team Surigao to a one point lead in Am E.

With a pair of 21s from Ely Polinag and Orly Mabutas and 18 from Jeffrey Quizon, the team has 84 points, one up on Fil-Golfers of Honolulu, which got 23 from Ely Coloma.

Mar Buliche had 22 and lead Veterans GC to 81 and third spot. - (Manila Standard Today)
