Recently, the entire council went back to the Alno site to observe the newly installed Black Hole technology and assess its viability to decide on granting power to Abalos to enter into a loan agreement from banks to finally acquire the technology.
Abalos said the technology is working perfectly as promised by Japanese proponents. “It is working on a 24 hour basis and can accommodate as much as 24 tons of garbage a day,” Abalos said.
Abalos added that the machine works on intervals when garbage is brought on site and brought in the machine every two to three hours.
Currently, the local council is deliberating on the P58-million loan to buy the technology from Japanese partners and use it for the municipality.
The committee on solid waste and laws, headed by Councilors Henry Kipas and Arthur Shontogan, is waiting for the results of the technical team that will do another evaluation.
The Black Hole Project was launched last month aiming to solve the municipality’s garbage woes. Coming from Japan, it is dubbed as a revolutionary project for waste disposal called the Zero Waste Management System (Super Black Hole Project).
Abalos has since written the local council twice for authority to loan from private banks the needed amount. - (SunStar / by Ma. Elena Catajan)
