Addicts gets help from Baguio City

THE growing number of young adults and even children being addicted to drugs and alcohol has increased, prompting the Baguio City Government to tie up with non-government organizations to address the problem.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Addicts and Alcoholics Carrying the Message Association (AACMA) this week to provide intervention, treatment and recovery programs to drug dependents, alcoholics and gamblers, and give counseling to their families with the help of the Social Welfare and Development Office.

AACMA’s partnership with the social welfare office will entail full support of a construction and operation of an Addiction Treatment Facility in the city.

Domogan said this is part of its commitment to deliver efficient and effective social services, most especially to the youth.
A viable lot and building for the project has already been pinpointed.

The project is also in partnership with the Dangerous Drugs Board represented by Executive Director Edgar Galvante and the Department of Health represented by Dr. Benjamin Reyes.
