BENECO offered to manage Baguio's street lights

Many residents and barangay officials have been clamoring for streets lights in their respective area and the apparently the city of Baguio have difficulty meeting and maintaining them.
This is why BENECO has made a proposal to the city mayor's office to take over with the operations and maintenance of said street lights with the condition that it would operate the street lights from 10 hours to 12 hours.

Said proposal still has not been approved yet. One of the main reason for this is because of the additional 2 hours that some residents say is additional revenue to BENECO and burden to the city coffers. BENECO however maintains that any revenue from the additional 2 hours will be used for the maintenance of said street lights.

The city government also explained that with the current set-up, busted bulbs could not be immediately replaced due to the hassle brought about by the procurement law whereas this would not be the case with BENECO.
