Safe food handling being sought in Baguio

Wear face mask and head gear, this is what is being proposed to the city council for anybody handling food. This includes restaurants and street vendors saying that improper handling of food and unclean procedures is one key reason to acquiring deceases/problems through food like food poisoning.

Everybody in the food business big or small, formal or informal establishments will be required to follow and wear head gear and face mask once the said proposal is passed. After the approval, a 30 day grace period is provided for everyone to comply.

Under the proposed measure is a P200 fine and a warning on the first offense while P500 and a final warning to the employer on the second offense. A third offense would result to the revocation of the owner's business permit and a fine of P1000.

Also once passed, residents who has a complaint may report to the Baguio Health Department. Once a complaint is filed the department will investigate the matter.
