Media meet Mr. and Ms. Benguet candidates

(Sun Star) --Media scrutinized the candidates for Mr. and Ms. Benguet last Thursday.

Press members of Baguio and Benguet newspapers, radio and television stations served as judges to select the “Darling of the Press” among the candidates for the pageant.

There are 13 pairs of candidates representing the municipalities of Benguet.


The municipality of Atok, where vegetables flourish and cacti flowers bloom, is represented by Jay-ann Bosento, 19, 5’3” in height and taking up Bachelor of Science (BS) in Office Administration at the King’s College of the Philippines. She is with schoolmate, Jazer Melis, 21, 5’8”, taking up BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Elizabeth Alawas, 22, 5’0” and from the University of Baguio taking up Bachelor of Arts in English, together with Brent Astudillo, 22, BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Baguio School of Business and Technology, are both representing the home of Kabunian, Bakun.

The sulfur spring of Benguet, Bokod is represented by Brittanie Pistola and Erickson Anton. Pistola, 18, 5’2” in height, is taking up BS in Managerial Accounting in Saint Luis University, while Anton, 5’8”, is 20 years old and taking up BS in Electrical Engineering at the same school.

Buguias, meanwhile, dubbed as the vegetable panorama of the north is represented by Ruth Lawangen, 5’2.5”, and John Henry Pescador, 5’7”, both are 22 years old.

Lawangen is from the University of Baguio taking up BS Nursing, while Pescador is from the Philippine Women’s University taking up BS Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Loracris Almoza and Yvis Sam Gayasco will represent the land of golden opportunities, Itogon.

Mr. and Ms. Kabayan are Heather Janet Leon Gate and Kenjie Ameda, while representatives from Kapangan are Rosegel Aludos and Terence Benito.

Lormah Mae Enggoy and Cristian Alguin are representing Kibungan, while Mr. and Ms. La Trinidad are Kristine Ingrid Fianza and Royd Guyon.

Mae Jureen Del-isen and Rex Ayan will represent Mankayan; Ariane Castro and Kevin Polon -- Sablan; Gracely Antonio and Romulo Guipoc -- Tuba; and Mary Laniel De Guzman and Dinglee Berto for Tublay.

The result for the “Darling of the Press” will be announced on the coronation night of November 12 at the Benguet State University gymnasium.

Apart from this pageant, there will also be search for little Mr. and Ms. Adivay to be held on November 12 at the Capitol’s Ben Palispis Hall. The coronation night for this pageant will be on November 19 at the BSU gymnasium.
