The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and the Department Foreign Affairs (DFA) regional offices are assuring relatives and loved ones of overseas workers that the recently released POEA list of 41 countries where there is deployment ban had been deferred.
These assurances were made by POEA regional director Delfina Camarillo and DFA regional director Edgar Canta during the PIA Hour radio program over radio station DZWT, Thursday.

According to Camarillo, at present, only the countries of Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan have existing deployment ban for OFWs.
Camarillo also explained that the said POEA October 28 released deployment ban list, is pursuant to Republic Act (RA) 10022 of 2009, which amends RA 8042 - otherwise known as Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipino Act of 1995, that mandates the deployment of OFWs should only be made to countries where the Philippines has bilateral agreement particularly on the protection of migrant workers.
Canta of the DFA, meanwhile, quoting the DFA secretary, said, “The Philippine government gives the highest importance to the safety and welfare of OFWs and continues to reinforce our partnership with Congress and other stakeholders on the crucial issue.” - (PIA/by Lito Dar)
