The suspect was identified as Ricardo Caddawan alias Boy, 52, of Poblacion, Kabugao, Apayao, who has been hiding for almost three years for brigandage.

Caddawan was spotted on Bulanao Street where he was nabbed by the operatives. He was brought to Apayao Provincial Public Safety Company for documentation before his turnover to the court.

Records show that Caddawan, along with three others, was charged with brigandage before the Regional Trial Court, Branch 26, in Luna, Apayao.

They were charged in connection with the P3-million provincial government payroll robbery on May 27, 2008 in Kabugao, Apayao, and went into hiding after the incident.

The three other suspects were earlier neutralized in separate operations.

Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-COR) director Chief Supt. Benjamin B. Magalong lauded the Apayao police for the arrest of the suspects.

It is noteworthy that today marks the first month in office of Magalong with modest accomplishments in terms of arrest of wanted persons in the Cordilleras. He also ordered all unit commanders to sustain this aspect of police operation. - (Journal online / by Cesar Reyes)
