La Trinidad, Benguet as garden city

Provincial Board Members favorably endorsed a La Trinidad resolution declaring Garden City as an economic enterprise.

Board Member Concepcion Balao, chairman of the committee on ways and means, approved the resolution catapulting the government-owned enterprise to become an economic enterprise of the municipality.

Facts and findings of the committee stated the matter was referred to the provincial legal officer saying the declaration is in tune with the Local Government Code of 1991 and the provisions thereof are found to be consistent with existing laws rules and regulations.

The center is now owned by the local government of La Trinidad through a deed of absolute sale of real property finalized August 18. The municipality bought Garden City for P26.5 million from the local government’s savings.

The center will also be renamed “Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant.”

Board members Nardo Cayat, Johnny Waguis, Juan Nazarro and Florence Tingbaoen, members of the same committee also approved the recommendation and favorably endorsed the project.

The Garden city conference center is now a venue for many seminars and events of the municipality, the first center owned by the local government.

It is envisioned to become a hub for activity with the support of line agencies and the officialdom. - (PIA / by Malen Catajan)
