Comfort rooms constructed for the expected boost in tourism

Governor Nestor Fongwan is focusing on tourism, saying the industry will be key to boost the province’s economy.

To this end, the governor said comfort rooms have been constructed along major highways to make it more convenient for commuters.

Fongwan said aside from comfort rooms, police outposts will also be set up to secure motorists along the national highways.

Fongwan said the police outpost and comfort rooms will be set up along the Halsema highway and the Benguet–Ambuklao–Bokod road.

Department of Tourism studies show Koreans, Japanese, Americans, French and Germans are top visitors who frequent the city and the neighboring provinces.

Surveys also show Baguio City’s mountain resort still tops Cordilleran destinations followed by Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, with Apayao and Abra tailing behind as destinations.

Fongwan also said the 2011 Adivay celebration is also one of the avenues by which the province can get back on track towards attracting more visitors to Benguet.
