With cold weather Baguio's AH1N1 cases went up

Cases of persons diagnosed with the AH1N1 virus have increased in Baguio City, according to health officials.

The Department of Health (DOH) in Cordillera said that from January to October this year, 118 people have tested positive for AH1N1.

Health officials said that although the virus commonly spreads in Baguio, the rate it is spreading is alarming.

“Tumataas ang incidence kapag malamig. Ang virus twice better kapag malamig, madaming nagkakahawaan,” said Dr. Myrna Cabotaje, regional director of DOH-CAR.

Health officials warned that children are more susceptible to the virus.

Persons infected with the virus will experience colds, sore throat, body ache, cough and flu.

Dr. Donna Tubera of the province’s health office advised the public to wash their hands frequently to prevent acquiring the virus and to stay at home when sick. - (ABS-CBN Northern Mindanao / by Ada Sibayan)
