The library and the U.S. Embassy in Manila have begun a partnership to expand a program of information about the United States to reach residents of the Cordillera region.
During Ambassador’s visit, the Saint Louis University (SLU) American Corner, SLU Center for Culture and the Arts, SLU Office for Linkages and Exchange Programs and American Studies, and the Baguio City Public Library American Shelf will present a variety of performances that include shadow play, creative dramatics and theater dance drama organized by Tanghalang SLU Director Dan Rommel Riopay, an alumnus of the Kennedy Arts Center Program . A story-telling session will follow the ambassador’s remarks.
Ambassador Thomas will then proceed to the second floor of the Baguio City Public Library to present baseball equipment for children of the Mabini Elementary School as part of the U.S. Embassy’s Sports Diplomacy Program.
The school has the greatest need and the most active baseball program in Baguio City. The donation includes bags, balls, baseball bands, bats gloves, helmets and shirts, raised by the ambassador himself from his fellow College of Holy Cross alumni. - (PIA / US Embassy)
