Under the Provincial Physical Fitness and Sports Development Council (PPFSDC) program, the said event will run until December 12 and will be held at the Kalinga Sports Complex in Bulanao, Tabuk City. The PPFSDC is chaired by Governor Jocel Baac.

Activities will start with a parade of delegates and the various drum and lyre bands from the different schools of the host city Tabuk. A short program with Kalinga Congressman Manuel Agayao as Guest of Honor and Speaker will follow at the Provincial Sports Complex. Baac and Vice Governor Allen Jesse Mangaoang will also be delivering their messages on said event.

Delegates from the eights municipalities of the province will be competing in various sports events in both elementary and secondary categories, to include athletics, badminton, baseball, softball, basketball, Taekwondo, chess, arnis, gymnastics, swimming, lawn tennis, football, boxing, archery, Sepak Takraw, and table tennis.

DepEd representatives during a recent inter-agency meeting said the PPFSDC saw the need for the regular conduct of local athletics competition to help enhance the skills and capabilities of local athletes as they prepare for the regional and national sports competitions.

On February next year, just days before the holding of the 2012 Ullalim Festival Kalinga Founding Anniversary, the province will also be hosting the 2012 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association meet. - (PIA / by Gigi Dumallig)
