CARE, Land Bank, DepEd and SSS heads Fun Run for Education

The Cordillera Association of Regional Executives (CARE), in partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Social Security System (SSS), will spearhead a fun run activity in line with their advocacy for education.

The event which is scheduled at 5:30 a.m. of December 18 at the Burnham Park, Lake Drive will include a 10K, 5K and a 3K category.

Interested individuals can personally register at the Land Bank Baguio (Harrison) or Trinidad branch. On-line registration is also open at www.renderfarmsports.com.

Cash prizes plus trophy are at stake for the top five finishers in each category. Top 15 finishers in the 3k and 5k, as well as the top 30 finishers in the 10k category will also be given t-shirts and all the race finishers will be given certificate of completion.

The proceeds of the event of the event will go to the association’s scholarship program.

The CARE Scholarship Program (CSP), since its inception in 1996 already has a total of 68 grantees as of 2009. Some have already graduated and others are currently enrolled in various schools in Baguio and Benguet.

The CSP aims to provide opportunities for the less fortunate and improve the quality of life of people within the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Specifically, the program seeks to provide educational assistance and employment opportunities to poor but deserving students in the region. - (PIA / by Lito Dar)
