Opening the festival is a concert for a cause featuring the Edralins that will perform on December 2 at the municipal gym.

Awingan said the proceeds of the concert will be used to purchase thermo-scan equipment for the 16 barangays of the municipality.

He said this is the first time a festival like this will be tried in the Valley; saying his hopes are high it will begin a tradition of song, dance and arts. “La Trinidad is becoming a new town with new activities like this.”

Awingan said he also wants to bring out the artistic potentials of the local youth here by bringing in arts and crafts into the celebration. “We can also be known as a music and art center.”

The 1st La Trinidad Music and Arts Festival aims to bring to the foreground talent of the youth in art and culture.

Awingan said a “Country Stampede” on December 16 at the gymnasium featuring line dancing will be one of the highlights of the events, bringing to the limelight country music by local bands and the traditional line dancing.

The Youth Council Federation joined festivities by showcasing their “Linggo ng Kabataan” from December 12-17 featuring art workshops for the youth.

Youth Council federation president Brenden Quintos said the whole week will be dedicated to the youth with art trainings geared towards releasing talent and aiming to give a livelihood to out of school youth using art as a medium. - (SunStar / by Ma. Elena Catajan)
