The vehicular accident occurred around 11 p.m. last November 29 in Sitio Payay, Ambongdolan of Tublay.
Tublay Police investigation revealed the vehicle jumped off a ravine, more or less 70 meters down the barangay road.
The passenger jeepney, driven by suspect Ruston Panos, 51, plies the Baguio–Camp Dangwa route. Panos, who sustained minor injuries, was brought to Benguet General Hospital.
The accident resulted to the death of couple Gomez Matsi, 70, and wife Dominga, 68, both farmers and residents of Sitio Bekes, Ambongdolan.
Policemen responded and retrieved the remains of the victims, then brought it to their relatives.
The suspect said they just delivered construction materials at Sitio Payay proper when they ascended a narrow cemented road and lost control of the steering wheel, resulting to the accident.
However, the attending doctor at the BGH said Panos was positive of alcohol.
The driver now faces violations for driving under the influence of liquor and driving without license under Republic Act 4136 known as Land Transportation Code of the Philippines.
He also faces reckless imprudence resulting to double murder and physical injuries, which will be filed by relatives of the three victims. - (SunStar / by Rubyloida Bitog)
